The 2026 World Cup kicks off on Thursday, June 11, as several countries try to win their way to glory.
Everyone will participate in the tournament relatively equally, but Polymarket traders have highlighted two specific teams. These traders see France or Spain winning the World Cup and securing another trophy.
Polymarket traders give both France and Spain a 16% chance of winning the World Cup this year. England and Portugal are in second place with 11%.

Other prominent countries at the top of the Polymarket list include defending champion Argentina with 9%, Brazil with 8%, Germany with 5% and the Netherlands with 4%.
Bad news for the United States: Polymarket traders give Red, White and Blue only a 1% chance of winning. This corresponds to Croatia, Ecuador, Senegal, Switzerland and Turkey.
If these traders are right, this would mean a repeat victory for both countries. France last won in 2018 after beating Croatia to secure its second World Cup title and first since 1998. Spain last won the World Cup in 2010, beating the Netherlands to secure the World Cup title for the first time.

The World Cup kicks off on Thursday, June 11 with two matches in Group A. Mexico will take on South Africa at 3:00 PM ET. The Republic of Korea will then take on the Czech Republic at 10 PM ET.
Spain will take to the field for the first time on Monday, June 15 as part of the Group H schedule. Spain will take on Cape Verde at noon ET.
France begins its schedule on Tuesday, June 16 during Group I matches. France will play Senegal at 3:00 PM ET.
