“Curb Appeal” star John Gidding was a prominent face on HGTV during the 2010s, but he kept his love life hidden and out of the spotlight. Well, mostly. For example, he slipped in the fact that he had married a ballet dancer who liked to joke about his lack of coordination at the end of an interview. “It rubs it in my face,” Gidding said. Two months later, Gidding opened a little a little more about his new marriage. So the architect/designer was definitely not one of the Celebrities who hid a secret lover for years – simply selective about the information he shared with the world. “I got married a year ago to a ballet dancer named Damian Smith, and it’s been a whirlwind year and a half,” she revealed during an interview with Windy City Times. But she didn’t just share her husband’s name and establish a timeline; He also dove a little into his backstory. “We met online,” he revealed. “You go on a date and say, ‘We should do that again,’ and you stay in touch.” But then things escalated…quickly. “He proposed to me three months after we met, and I was looking for a ring at the same time,” she continued, adding, “When it’s right, it’s right.”

Unfortunately, John Gidding and Damian Smith had a relatively small window of happiness together before things took a turn for the worse.
In January 2019, Gidding said Weekly Metro that they decided to divorce in 2016 and had only finalized things three months before the interview. Unsurprisingly, Gidding was still in the throes of his disappointment at the time. “The marriage thing was an interesting experience for me,” she said, adding, “I would say I’m still recovering from the divorce.” And while the HGTV star confirmed that her divorce wasn’t “bad,” she had “got carried away with the excitement of marriage once it became legal and hadn’t really thought it through.”
Gidding also revealed that she was back in the dating game. However, the divorce appears to have inspired the HGTV alum to maintain your personal life extra private in the future, because this interview seems to have been the last time she talked about her love life, as of this writing. He also hasn’t posted any photos of potential matches on his Instagram account, which he mainly dedicates to his travel adventures. Of course, the has not appeared on an HGTV property in several years, so it is no longer as visible as before. And so it seems that he likes it. So while it would be nice to have confirmation that he found the love he’s looking for, he obviously prefers to keep that side of his life to himself for the time being.
