Let’s get into the final ins and outs and the revolving door of casting in Days.
Days of our lives: Elia Cantú ends up like Jada Hunter
So, we have several important casting news for you in this update. But let’s start with Jada Hunter leaving Salem. Thus, this week the actress Elia Cantú herself announced on her social networks that she is saying goodbye to days of our lives. So, if you don’t remember, the actress made her debut as Jada on the soap opera on July 19, 2022. And at that time, she showed up in town applying for a detective position with the Salem police. And if you don’t remember, the character of Elia Cantú is a legacy. His father is Dr. Marcus Hunter (Richard Biggs), who was last seen, I believe, back in 1992.
And we got the first hint that Jada might be out when Elia Cantú was kicked out of the Days credits in March. So, at the time it seemed like she was fine, they left her without a contract and she will be recurring. You know, that was the assumption, every time that happened, that we would continue to see her as Jada Hunter. And between 2022 and now, almost four years later, we have seen it get much closer to Shawn Brady (Brandon Beamer). And of course, Jada was promoted to the position of police commissioner. But we still don’t know its final release date.
Elia Cantú expresses her gratitude to DOOL
Now, in her announcement confirming her departure, Elia said it was an honor to have played Jada Louise Hunter. And he thanked the cast, crew and fans. And she says she’s excited for her next adventure, whatever it may be. So far, I haven’t seen any new projects on their IMDb page. And if you remember, his co-star and scene partner Brandon Beemerwho plays Shawn Brady, was actually fired before they brought him back. That was back in 2023 when Ari Zucker, Camila Banús, Martha Madison, Nadia Bjorlin and others were also questioned as part of what became known as the Albert Allar bloodbath.
But right now, Jada is in the thick of it, front and center. She might have to arrest her best friend. Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) for shooting Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins). Plus, Jada and Shawn are heating up this week. They will soon begin a real romance and will probably sleep again soon. And fortunately, thanks to that delay of 9 to 10 months in advance to issue Days of our lives, We’ll see more of Jada with Shawn before Elia Cantu ends his run in early 2027.
Days of our Lives: multiple departures coming soon
So maybe Jada and Shawn will leave town together because Days seems to be leaving people in pairs right now. Because don’t forget that when the actors returned from vacation in January, Carson Boatman, Raven Bowens, Leo Howard, and Ashley Puzemis received firing notices in their Christmas stockings instead of a bonus. So we’ll say goodbye Johnny DiMera (Carson Barquero) and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) in just a few months.
Now, currently, Johnny and Chanel go through her high-risk pregnancy, with the complication of breast cancer. And there is corporate drama with dimera companies, including EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) doing more bad things than Johnny has to answer for as CEO along with Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson), who is helping him. So, Chanel and Johnny can take their kids and leave Salem to get away from EJ. Unless, of course, Johnny loses Chanel to cancer. And then she picks up and takes her kids to live near her mother, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), in Italy so she can get help raising Trey and Quattro and get away from EJ.
Tate Black Release Days
We will also see the latest Tate Donovan Black (Leo Howard) and Holly Jonah (Ashley Puzemis) because right now Sophia’s mom, Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson), wants to sue Holly in civil court for Sophia’s apparent suicide. His body has not been found and that means Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) he keeps getting his way Murder framed as suicide. But you never know, Sophia could be alive and plotting somewhere.
I could go back and do something to Tate and Holly. Or Tate and Holly could go to Paris to escape the Salem drama and she and Amy Choi could pick him up and go to the Sorbonne and they could be close to their mother. Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) and her uncle Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).
Also coming soon, Holly and Tate will be at the hospital with Sara Horton (Linsey Godfrey). And Holly denies taking pills again. Looks like they found something on him. and she is yelling at Tate to get it. outside. Then maybe they’ll break up. Holly heads to Paris. So Tate heads west to be with his mother, Teresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien).
Days of our Lives: Lexie’s six-month return and other changes
Next, another exit that is looming is that of actress Nikki Crawford, who plays Lexie Carver. His passage through Peacock Sudser was only a six month run. So actress Nikki Crawford ended her career months ago and moved on. And now it’s just a matter of waiting to see when and how Lexie leaves Salem once again.
Its first air date was March 6, so Nikki Crawford’s half-year run should end in early September. AND Lexie is already experimenting symptoms of Dr. Wilhelm Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) resurrection serum. You know, it’s not easy to rise from the dead after 15 years frozen in a human capsule.
To me, this all seems like a huge waste of time, bringing Lexie back only to kill her again so soon. You know, maybe she doesn’t really die. But we’ll agree to let Ralph and EJ refreeze her in that tube, you know, at least until they figure out how to bring her back for good. Or maybe Lexie refuses and decides she wants to pass away peacefully.
Days of our Lives: Kristen DiMera out
And finally, we’ll also see Kristen DiMera leave Salem over the summer. Stacy Haiduk’s character appears to have been snatched away by EJ or, more likely, a thug on his payroll. Once she finds out that Kristen tried to get Sophia to kill Johnny, it’s all over for her. EJ is going to take her out like she was yesterday’s trash.
Luckily for Stacy Haiduk, she moved on to another juicy soap opera role and appears as Patty Williams on The young and the restless. She is totally killing it. Y&R, basically playing another crazy, bad girl who’s up to no good.
Changes in the distribution of days and news
In addition, we wait for the last air date of Al Calderón as Javi Hernandez anytime now. Al left when he landed a role on NBC’s primetime drama. Brilliant minds. But that’s actually bad news for him, since it was abruptly canceled. There will not be another season. Meanwhile, Jacob Martínez has taken on the role of Javi. Things are getting interesting for him right now since his new boyfriend Gus (Michael Ocampo) is moving to Salem after getting a firefighter job there. We will meet the new hottie on June 30.
In other comings and goings news, Peter Porte returns as a hottie Dimitri von Leuschner DiMera this summer and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) just said Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) receives non-stop hateful text messages from Dimitri, who taunts her to keep spending her money now because it won’t last forever. He’s going to get evidence to put an end to her. So when he returns, Leo tries to get Dimitri to make a deal with him after he turns down some kind of offer from Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering).
Plus, in early 2027, we’ll see Sofia Mattsson do it days of our lives debut. She was last seen in general hospital and now has a new contractual role in Days. I think you guys are really going to love her. So right now they’re saying she’s playing a completely new character. But I, personally, suspect that that new character might turn out to be Abigail DiMera, basically with amnesia, who turns out not to be a new character. We’ll see. Honestly, Sofia Mattsson has the perfect look to be recast as Abigail. But we won’t know for six months.
