The biggest fashion fails at Royal Ascot 2026

Royal Ascot season is officially here, which means we have plenty of hats to judge. The British Horse Racing Festival is a royal tradition that has been around since 1711. This year, the festivities began on June 16 and lasted until June 20. Royal Ascot has long been recognized as a celebration of fabulous and luxurious fashion, complete with spectacular hats. The who’s who of England and beyond gather in the city of Ascot to watch and bet on the biggest British horse racing event of the year.

As with most long-held traditions, there are many rules to follow, specifically when it comes to fashion. Royal Ascot divides its attendees into four separate “enclosures”, each with a different dress code. The royal compound, of course, is dedicated to royalty and their guests, and hats are a requirement. It is very different from the Windsor venue, which does not have a mandatory dress code. The general rule, however, is to look your best. That said, some attendees may have gotten it wrong.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, looks sad in an all-black look

Big, floppy bow hits Rosie Turner’s dress again

It’s hard to miss TV presenter Rosie Turner in her hot pink dress. Look a little closer and you’ll see a familiar, large, floppy bow on her Suzannah London dress.

Turner’s look is quite similar to Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh’s ensemble, right down to the asymmetrical floral hat. It seems like the only difference is the color combination. The hot pink look certainly matches the summer vibes more, but the color is so bright that it’s almost hard to look at it for long.

Princess Anne took the colors of the sherbet and somehow made them sad and beige.

Princess Anne took up royal duties the first day of the event with a unique outfit to say the least. The princess chose to wear a multicolored button dress with purple, orange, blue and green tones. Unfortunately, the dress looked more like a coat than a sundress, with long, thick sleeves and a puffed collar.

Along with it, he donned a sage green hat and the much-loved horse pin that he has worn at multiple racing events. Despite the mix of colors, the dress is quite dull and desaturated (the polar opposite of Rosie Turner’s bright pink stunner), making her blend into the crowd rather than shine.

Georgia Toffolo’s Vintage Chainmail Dress Looks Boring and Heavy

British television personality Georgia Toffolo also took an innovative approach to the summer event. On the first day, she wore a vintage Rockstar Boudoir dress that seemed appropriate for another gathering. The dress appears to be wrapped in chain mail and beaded at the bottom with a dusty blue dress underneath.

At first glance, the chain mail and beads appear to be placed randomly. The jagged beading at the base of the dress doesn’t help with this problem, and the chainmail sleeves appear to have been inaccurately cut. Overall, the dress is fascinating to look at, but perhaps not for the best reasons.
