“Real Housewives of Atlanta” legend NeNe leaks has been open about the problems of one of her children, Bryson Leakesthat he has faced, including addiction. Now, it has come to light that the 35-year-old has been arrested for multiple issues, including failure to pay child support.
According TMZBryson was arrested on May 1 on multiple charges and is being held in a Georgia jail. The charges include late child support payments, violation of probation and failure to appear for a prior legal matter. His bail was set at $27,000.
As for the probation charge, it was related to a case in which he was found with fentanyl in 2023. As previously reported, during that arrest, he told officers his name was Brent Leakeshis younger brother. This led to him being charged with giving a false name and possession of a controlled substance.
Ultimately, the drug charge was dropped and Bryson was sentenced to 12 months probation. He also had to pay $500 in fines, complete 40 hours of community service and submit to several drug tests.
NeNe Leakes’ Son Bryson Violated Multiple Probation Terms
According to court documents obtained by TMZ filed on June 2, Bryon did not comply with his part of the terms of his probation. This includes requirements such as failing to appear since sentencing, completing the required substance abuse evaluation, community service, and paying the $500 fine.
As of this writing, neither NeNe nor her other son, Brentt, have issued a statement regarding Bryson’s detention in a Georgia jail.

As mentioned, NeNe has spoken openly about some of the personal struggles her son, Bryson, has faced. Because of this, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans don’t hold a grudge against him for not bailing him out of jail.
One person said: “He’s a grown man, NeNe probably washed her hands of him at this point.” Another “RHOA” fan wrote, “I know who won’t bail him out!!!” Someone else wrote: “This young man has really helped Nene get through this. I’m going to pray for her. Brentt is still in the hospital and now THIS. Please pray for Nene and her children.”
After that, other social media users recalled that Bryon’s problems were mentioned on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” This includes cast member Sheree Whitfield mentioning her arrest for robbery during the season four reunion.
Referring to the show’s now-iconic moment, one person said, “Didn’t your son get arrested for shoplifting at Walmart?”
Another social media user then wrote: “NeNe has been paying for everything for years. At some point, enough is enough. That’s why you don’t play in family court. They’ll lock you up.”
NeNe Leakes previously opened up about her son’s addiction
Leakes spoke about his son’s addiction and his arrest in a 2023 interview with charles king for his Podcast “Reality with the king”.
Regarding an update, she shared, “I talked to him on the phone, I think he’s fine.”
Leakes said of his condition: “He needs rehab. He needs a lot of counseling. Like a lot of families, I have family members who struggle with drugs and certain addictions. He has an addiction. He’s been fighting it for years. He’s been to rehab a couple of times, and yet he’s come back and relapsed.”
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” OG also acknowledged that Bryson will need to help himself. According to her, “as a mother, just looking at it, my hands are tied. There’s not much I can do. People who have had children or family members who have used drugs, they know they have to be prepared. They just have to be prepared.”
The ‘RHOA’ student has tried to help her son
NeNe continued her interview by revealing that she has tried several methods to help Bryson, including sending him to a facility. She said: “I’ve spent a lot of money trying to get Bryson to where he needs to be.”
The “RHOA” alum continued, “But every time I fire him it’s because I said, ‘You’re getting up and we’re firing you.’ But I learned from coaching myself that he has to say, ‘I’m ready to go,’ not me making him leave. So until Bryson is ready to make a change, there’s nothing I can do.”
She added: “He is (33) years old, he is an adult. He has three children, three beautiful children, who I adore. He has a wife. As a mother, I would never wash my hands of my son, right? But I am a little numb because it has been happening for many years. I am really a little numb to the situation.”
