Social media is (literally) IN BLUE across the screen House of the Dragon Season 3 premiere that immediately put viewers in the spotlight epic Battle of the Gullet with all the blood-curdling dragon action we expect from the hit HBO series (set 200 years earlier Game of Thrones), especially when it came to one dragYN in particular.
In the episode’s busiest moment, Rhaena foolishly flies her stubborn dragon, Sheepstealer, into battle, unaware that the criminal fire breather does (and burns) what he wants, when he wants, without any form of control.
You may remember in the season 2 finale that Rhaena discovered the wild dragon in the Vale of Arryn, foreshadowing her bond with the beast (well, kind of) and flying him back to Dragonstone (home).
But as luck would have it, she watches the Battle of the Esophagus unfold and instead veers in that direction with good intentions until things go terribly wrong.
It is there, in the middle of a great battle, that she realizes she has no control over her crashing dragon which attacks members of their own side, including Rhaena’s sister Baela and her dragon Moondancer, and Jacaerys Velaryon and his dragon Vermax, leading to the prince’s tragic death. Yes!
Naturally, social media erupted over Rhaena’s failure to harness the energy of Sheepstealer’s Black Forces in a hilarious barrage of tweets, memes, and more that circulated the internet and beyond.
