Armie Hammer Stars in Controversial New Thriller ‘Citizen Vigilante’ – Just Jared – Celebrity News and Gossip

Poor Hammer is back in a leading role with the release of Civil Guard.

The new action thriller from filmmaker Uwe Bol is now available starting Friday (June 19) on all major TVOD platforms such as Apple TV, YouTube and Prime Video in the United States, giving viewers the chance to watch the film from home.

The film, which also stars Costa Mandylor of the Saw franchise follows a wealthy American businessman living abroad whose violent vigilante campaign makes him both a fugitive and an online sensation.

What is Civil Guard about?

In the movie, Armie plays Sanders, a wealthy American businessman living in Zagreb who inherited a huge real estate empire from his late father. Sanders is beginning to target violent criminals who he believes have escaped meaningful punishment through the justice system.

Civil Guard story is Sanders (Hammer), a wealthy American businessman who lived in Zagreb and inherited a huge real estate empire from his late father. Intelligent, isolated and emotionally scarred, Sanders transforms himself into a feared underground vigilante who targets violent criminals, rapists and corrupt judges who have escaped meaningful punishment through the legal system.

As his ruthless campaign gains traction online and in the media, Sanders becomes both a wanted criminal and an unlikely public hero. But not everyone sees him as a savior. Interpol chief Henry, played by Mandylorbelieves Sanders represents a dangerous threat to society and is launching an aggressive international pursuit to stop him before his influence spirals out of control.

Civil Guard arrives with controversy already surrounding it. Director Uwe Bol has publicly claimed that the film was effectively blocked from release in Germany following disputes over its classification with the country’s FSK ratings board.

The filmmaker describes the project as “an action film inspired by real events, based on real cases and commentary on injustice.”

Armie recently broke his silence after his scandals claiming he “didn’t do” what people said he did.
