Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert got into a light-hearted “peasant” competition over who would be the quickest to get rid of a snake during a writing session.
But the most exciting part of the story might be the part that has nothing to do with the snake.
The two artists spoke about the incident during a conversation on she‘s series “Three Generations.” Reba McEntire She was also on camera, but during this particular anecdote, she just sat back and laughed at the antics.
Why did Miranda Lambert get mad at Ella Langley over a snake?
“One of the last writings we had, we were in the middle of writing and we saw a snake,” Langley remembers. “And I tried to get up and catch it, and Miranda came out with a shotgun.”
“We were on the farm, y’all,” Lambert adds, laughing. “We were trying to outdo each other, that’s what we were doing.”
Why did Lambert end up angry with Langley? Well, it seems he never got to use his shotgun.
“They didn’t shoot the snake,” Langley details. “I scared her and she got mad at me for it. She was like, ‘Damn, I was right there.'”
What does that writing session mean for the future of Ella Langley + Miranda Lambert?
With all the hype over Snake, most fans may not be aware of some pretty big news: That writing session seems recent, perhaps even after they wrapped their work together on Langley’s. Dandelion project.
Langley acknowledged in the interview that “when you find people you love making music with, you don’t want to stop doing it.”
Does that mean fans can expect Lambert and Langley to work more together in the future? That seems like a pretty strong possibility.
Lambert co-produced Langley’s Dandelion album and participated in the writing of their smash hit, “Choosin’ Texas.” There’s also a duet between the two, “Butterfly Season,” on the project.
In fact, Langley says the lyric she’s most proud of Dandelion comes from “Butterfly Season.”
“I don’t even know her / That girl from last October / Right now I’d like to show her / Who we’ve become / What flowers look like in June / When we’re into something new“, is the line that Langley pointed out during the she interview.
“It sums up my life in the past… I mean, all the time,” he reflects. “I’m constantly looking back, like, ‘Wow.’ You don’t necessarily notice the growth when it’s happening. It doesn’t feel like growth, it feels more like you’re dragging your feet through the mud.”

Ella Langley burst into the country music mainstream as a dark horse with an unlikely hit: “You Look Like You Love Me,” a Riley Green duet that was catchy but featured some unusual (and old-school) stylistic choices like talking and singing.
But it was a success. And that turned out to be just the beginning of what Langley had to offer. He continued to dominate with hits like “Weren’t For the Wind” and the mega-hit “Choosin’ Texas,” becoming one of country music’s biggest acts and a bonafide star even beyond the genre.
