Anne Hathaway talks about the fashion of Andy Sachs The devil wears Prada 2!
The 43-year-old actress sits down in this exclusive first look at a new bonus feature on the film’s upcoming digital and DVD release.
In the excerpt from the featurette ‘Inside the Fashion Closet’ Anne tells how they came up with a backstory of Andy’s fashion over the past twenty years and how some of her looks came to be.
“Andy has been looking for stories for over twenty years, and maybe she goes to places you wouldn’t expect. And the thing about a lot of places around the world is that they have really cool consignment shops,” Anne say. “So the story we came up with was that Andy has been selling high-end fashion in unexpected locations for twenty years.”
This backstory is also explained a bit in the film, when Andy talks to Nigel after he returns to the runway and tells him she saved something in Provo for $11. “I’ve learned a thing or two since the last time I was here,” she says.
Anne continues to explain how Andy’s style has changed over the years.
“The story of her closet becomes what she does with this new availability of options for her,” Anne says, while lead costume designer Molly Rogers adds, “She didn’t want her clothes to be sad. As a reporter, you don’t sit in the front row at fashion shows.”
“It had to be just the right size of a men’s shirt with high-waisted pants. You know, it just had the look that you can roll up your sleeves and work late Track,” Molly continued.
