maggie may rockerThe 81-year-old shared an old family photo during this scotland game against brazil Last night at the Miami Stadium, where Steve Clarke’s side suffered a heart-breaking 3-0 defeat.

In the heartwarming photo, a young Rod Scotland with shoulder-length blonde hair can be seen smiling in a track jacket as he stands beside his mum and dad.

While Rod himself was born in London, his father Robert Joseph Stewart was from Edinburgh and the singer is very proud of his Scottish roots.

Rod captioned the photo: “Dad will be looking at us tartan army tonight. No Scotland no party.”

Sadly, Rod’s predictions for Scotland’s match against Brazil did not even come close to coming true.

He told the Record earlier in the week: “Listen. If this game is even half as good as the Tartan Army in the United States – they’re the greatest, most patriotic fans in the world and they’ve done Scotland proud – I think we’ll beat Brazil 6-5!”

Scotland fans were left disappointed last night as Brazil won 3-0 with Vinicius Junior’s first goal after just seven minutes.

Rod, a lifelong Scotland fan, flew to Boston last week to cheer on his team, and told fans he would ‘die a happy man’ if Scotland qualified.

However, the chances of this now look slimmer than ever after last night’s result.

Scotland will now have to wait nervously until the final group games are over to find out whether they will progress to the knockout stage, with only the top eight teams who finished third in their group progressing.

The men’s team is currently seventh out of 12 in the third-place table and the Tartan Army will have to wait a few days to see how the other teams perform.

Rod’s comments come just days after concerns were raised over his health after he was seen with an oxygen tank during an event.

The singer ‘almost fainted’ during a performance at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in West Valley City on Friday, June 19.

An online clip showed Rod leaning against musical instruments, barriers and a pillar at the side of the stage as he struggled to continue his set.

He was then forced to stop the concert to help crew members. An oxygen tank was reportedly brought After the rod has doubled.

The singer has since Insists he is ‘absolutely fine’ As he told the Record: “I’m 100% fine now. We were performing at altitude – 1500 meters above sea level – and no one bothered to tell me before the show!

“Anyone who runs to stay in shape will know that you have to acclimatise to high altitude. That’s why, for example, the Scotland team flew to America long before their first game at the World Cup.

“A few minutes before the show started, I asked my assistant if we were at height and she said ‘no’. So I ran on stage, went to my set and started my silly dance.

“And then it hit me… BOSH!!! It felt like my lungs were ruined.”
