Angelina Jolie was present as his son, Knox, celebrated his high school graduation and a Muay Thai victory on the same night. Brad Pitt was not in the country.
Knox Jolie-Pitt has largely stayed out of the spotlight, despite his very famous family. Now the teenager is approaching his 18th birthday, he steps more into the public eye. He had a pretty big day last weekend. On June 5, Knox walked onto the stage at a Los Angeles high school to receive his diploma. Hours later, he stepped into a Muay Thai ring to fight. While his mother cheered him on, his father was nowhere to be seen. Pitt’s supposed absence further reinforces reports of his estrangement from his children.
Knox Jolie-Pitt jumped into the spotlight in a big way this week
Since Knox Jolie-Pitt kept a low profile for most of his childhood, fans assumed that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s youngest son was the shy type. It doesn’t seem that way anymore. On June 5, Knox took the stage and gave a speech to his classmates and their families at his high school graduation. He even took time out of his comments to promote his fight, telling the crowd, “Tonight I’m going to fight at Total Sonic Knockout 5 at 12:45, so catch me.”
After midnight, Knox entered the ring for an exhibition match and won what he said was the IKF Point Muay Thai Technical event TMZ. The 17-year-old has been training in martial arts for years. In recent years he has been regularly spotted at local training sessions.
Brad Pitt was noticeably absent, but Angelina Jolie was not
Knox Jolie-Pitt had the support of some classmates and his mother, it seems. The teen’s mother, Angelina Jolie, took center stage at both events. She was seen in the graduation crowd taking photos and videos as her son took the stage. Jolie reportedly looked on proudly, but did her best to stand out. She later attended the night battle along with Knox’s twin sister, Vivienne. The mother-daughter duo kept a low profile in the crowd. It is unclear whether Knox’s other siblings were also present at the fight.
What we can say for certain is that Brad Pitt, Knox’s father, was not seen at either event. It doesn’t appear the father of six attended the ceremony. He also didn’t seem to show up for a fight night that, fittingly, echoed one of his own most famous on-screen roles as a bare-knuckle boxer. Pitt instead turned up thousands of miles away in France on June 6 with Ines de Ramon. Pitt and Ramon, with whom he has been dating since 2022, looked relaxed and happy.
Brad Pitt’s estrangement from his children has been headlines for years, but recent milestones put that divide into sharper perspective. Pitt skipped Zahara Jolie’s graduation last month. Despite the apparent rift between him and his children, Pitt has chosen to remain quiet. He has had no influence on the work his children have done, or their name changes. The last time Pitt and his children were mentioned together was his late mother Obituary of Jane Etta Pitt.
As Knox and Vivienne, the youngest of Pitt and Jolie’s six children, grow into adulthood, their relationship with their father appears to be growing increasingly distant. It is unclear whether that will ever change.
