Best medicine announced the promotion of Jason Veasey (George Brady) and Stephen Spinella (Greg Garrison) to Season 2 series regulars. Airing on FOX, Best medicine is based on the British series, Doc Martinand follows the story of Dr. Martin Best, a surgeon who leaves his career as a surgeon in Boston to become a general practitioner in the quaint village of Port Wenn, Maine.
Veasey and Spinella play George and Greg, the beloved married couple who own the city’s hottest restaurant, The Salty Breeze. They left New York City for Port Wenn 18 years ago and have since become an important part of the community, along with their pet pig, Brisket, who roams the Salty Breeze kitchen. The Best medicine In the season 1 finale, the entire town came together to give the couple a surprise wedding, as they had secretly married years earlier. George and Greg have been the heart of Port Wenn since the series began, and now fans will see much more of them.
According to Term, Best medicine In season 2, Veasey and Spinella will be series regulars. Executive producer and showrunner Liz Tuccillo stated that she was thrilled to see the actors promoted, saying: “Nothing makes me happier than making it official with Stephen Spinella and Jason Veasey as our beloved Greg and George. Working with two gentlemen who make every scene funnier, warmer and more surprising, and who happen to be great people themselves, is everything a showrunner could ever ask for.”
Best medicine executive producer Rodney Ferrell had similar words of praise for the actors, saying: “Stephen and Jason have become essential to the fabric of Port Wenn, so making them series regulars is beyond exciting, but welcoming members of the LGBTQ+ community into our permanent family during Pride month is the icing on the cake.”

Best medicine season 1 left viewers with some major cliffhangers. Not only was Martin under investigation for allowing Elaine to draw blood from patients to help him with his blood phobia, but he was also overheard by Mark asking Louisa if she wanted to have a baby with him as friends after she started her journey to motherhood. This prompted Martin to contact his ex, Dr. Eden Montgomery (Eliza Coupe), to call. Furthermore, Sarah stated that everyone in Port Wenn will be rich if she finds out that there are sea urchins in the water for miles.
Best medicine has always had the perfect mix of comedy and drama, and George and Greg have provided plenty of belly laughs and several heartfelt moments. It’s great that Veasey and Spinella will have a bigger role in season 2 because they bring so much to the series. George and Greg’s relationship is one of the sweetest and purest on the show, and they deserve to have more of their story told. Best medicine season 2 seems to be just as magical as season 1.
