The past month has been full of interesting developments in Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s decade-long disaster. While they are finally legally divorced, Brad’s lawsuit and Angelina’s countersuit — all over Chateau Miraval — are moving toward trial. Angelina’s children were not only Brad’s victims and witnesses to what he did to Angelina on that plane in 2016, they are also witnesses to what Brad has done to them since then. And it seems like all those kids want nothing to do with Brad or his name. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Zahara has officially applied to remove “Pitt” from her last name. In documents obtained by PEOPLE on Tuesday, June 9, the 21-year-old man filed a petition to change the name in California Superior Court. In Touch was the first to report the news.
People reached out to representatives for Jolie and Pitt.
Zahra’s petition is dated April 28 and comes just days after her brother, Maddox Jolie, 24, also filed to legally remove his father’s last name following their parents’ split in 2016 after two years of marriage and more than 10 years as a couple. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024. Jolie, 51, and Pitt, 62, have six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, both 17.
The Spelman graduate is now the third child of the former couple to apply to legally remove “Pitt” from their last name, following Maddox and Shiloh.
A source close to Pitt says, “It’s sad to see someone preaching over and over again about successfully separating their children from the other parent.”

In 2024, Shiloh went out and hired a lawyer to change her name on her 18th birthday. Zahra and Maddox did just that, went out and hired lawyers and filed documents. Name-change applications are public record, which is how TMZ and In Touch Weekly and everyone else got these stories. If we talk about promotion, tmz And Us Weekly got similar nasty quotes from Brad’s team, like this here: : “It is unfortunate when one parent intentionally separates their children from the other.” I don’t know, I think it’s more unfortunate When a deadbeat father won’t even attend his children’s graduation or congratulate them on their educational achievements.
