Fletcher was a well-known name to Scots fans even before the teenager was announced for the team, due to his father being former Scotland captain and former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher.
Tyler and his twin brother Jack were both born in March 2007 and were brought up in Manchester, where their mother is Hayley Grice.
Fletcher, from Dalkeith, married Hayley at St Ambrose Catholic Church in Hayley in 2010, three years after welcoming their sons.
Both Tyler and Jack have followed in their father’s footsteps and are both currently central midfielders at Manchester United.

Boys attended the Manchester City academy for nine years before moving to United for a reported £1.25 million at the age of 16.
In April 2024, Tyler shared on Instagram that he had signed his first professional contract with Manchester United.
He was also awarded the U21 Player of the Year award this season, with Aston Villa stars Morgan Rodgers and Wayne Rooney praising the young player for his achievement.
However, the teenager has only played 17 minutes of professional football in his playing career, following just two senior substitute appearances, which came on the final day of the Premier League season at Brighton.
Having said that, he did plenty to impress Steve Clarke after receiving an unexpected call up to the World Cup despite Scotland fans being divided over the decision.
After Clarke was called up to the Scotland training camp, he earned a bench spot for last month’s pre-tournament friendly with Curacao.
Once there, Fletcher made a hugely positive impression on the Scotland coaches and is now in the US with the rest of the Scotland squad for the World Cup.

Both Tyler and his brother Jack have capped international appearances and while they both started out with the England under-16s, Tyler has now followed in his father’s footsteps by switching nationality to Scotland.

Tyler and Jack previously played against each other during an Under-19 European Championship qualifier between Scotland and England in November 2025.
Despite playing on opposing teams with deep rivalries, Tyler and Jack appear to be very close and Jack regularly leaves messages of support on Tyler’s Instagram posts.
In his most recent post, Tyler wrote: “Making my debut for @manutd is a dream come true. Proud moment for me and my family, hopefully there’s more to come.”
Jack replied: “Proud brother.”
