Netflix fans cry ‘It destroyed me’ as tragic rom-com tops charts

A new Netflix romance movie released this week is a must-watch, but make sure to have tissues on hand

A latest Netflix movie is bringing tears to viewers’ eyes and has rocketed up the streaming rankings just hours after its debut.

Hitting the platform this Friday (June 19), the new romantic comedy packed with a stellar cast and an impressive story currently sits in second place on the streamer’s movie rankings.

Its only rival is the disturbing true crime documentary Maternal Instincts, making this new original offering an essential watch for weekend evening entertainment and anyone seeking something more upbeat.

Be warned, however, because Voicemails for Isabelle begins with a devastating emotional blow when lead character Jill (played by Zoey Deutch) loses her beloved sister Isabelle (Ciara Bravo) within the first few minutes, reports mirror.

Finding it difficult to cope with the loss of her closest companion, she begins recording voice messages to Isabel’s former number, unaware that it has been reassigned to Austin-based property agent Wes (Nick Robinson).

Wes slowly develops feelings for the enchanting voice he’s been hearing and chooses to arrange a meeting with Jill in San Francisco, but could her unknown truth undermine their budding romance?

Comedy icon Nick Offerman plays Jill’s overbearing pastry boss Chef Bastian, whose voicemails to Isabelle are full of emotion and laughter. Yet the emotional core of the film and its many thrilling storylines have left audiences in tears as they watched in droves as soon as it arrived on Netflix.

One X user confessed: “As an older sister, “Voicemail for Isabelle” destroyed me!”

Someone else commented: “Well the voicemail for Isabelle made me emotional. It was so sweet though.”

Another viewer posted, “Voicemails for Isabelle – the new Netflix movie that literally took 13 minutes to make me cry and was an absolute joy to watch from start to finish.”

“It’s dark but also a very good movie! I would highly recommend it. I loved it. It might be my new favorite romantic comedy!”

And one final fan gushed: “I didn’t expect to feel so much while watching this, but I was right there, right there with her. I never cry when I watch movies but this was so raw and beautiful I just went along with it.”

“This is the best movie I’ve seen in a very long time and the incredible soundtrack made it even better. I loved it and would watch it again in a heartbeat.”
