Two network TV stars whose characters once tied the knot say, “I do!”
9-1-1: Lone star actress Natacha Karam and Brilliant minds actor John Clarence Stewart – who was a guest Lone star as the love interest of Karam’s character — are engaged after Stewart popped the question during a lavish proposal at their home.
Karam, 32, and Stewart, 37, shared a joint Instagram post on June 3 with a carousel of photos from the big moment.
“I love you, I love you, I love you. One day I will find the words, but for now thank you @jstewiii, for everything. Life is so much better with you,” Karam said in her caption.
The photos show Stewart dropping to one knee under an arch of purple and pink flowers as Karam grabs her engagement ring. Other photos showed them laughing, kissing and hugging as they celebrated. Stewart had also apparently filled their apartment with pink rose petals and tons of candles, which it was HELLO! magazine reports came from The Heart Bandits, a Los Angeles-based event planner.
Stewart told HELLO! that he told Karam a year ago that he wanted to “take this relationship to the next level” within the next twelve months, so she had an idea of what might happen — especially when he asked her to delete the Ring camera app from her phone on May 29.
The couple enjoyed a date in Malibu while The Heart Bandits prepared their home for the proposal. Even their dog Cleo was involved, wearing a bandana that said “My people are getting married” and a little white wedding dress that she wore because of her appearance. Lone star when her parents’ characters got married.
“It wouldn’t have made any sense without her,” Stewart said HELLO! “There are always three of us; the inscription on the ring is Cleo’s name.”
Congratulations poured in from fans and friends alike, including Stewart’s Brilliant minds co-star Al Calderon writes, “MY BROTHER 😍 if the flower girl role gets auditions I would love to take it!”
Karams Lone star co-star Gina Torres also commented on the post. “BEST NEWS!!! I love you guys so much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🍾🍾🥂🥂🥂🥂” she wrote.
Karam played Marjan Marwani 9-1-1: Lone starthat ended with the fifth season in February 2025. Although Fox announced in September 2024 that the series starring Rob Lowe would end with that season, Karam teased in January 2024 that fans shouldn’t get “too comfortable.”
“Every time you think it’s over, it’s not, so keep those tissues handy,” she said TVLine at the time.
