Lainey Wilson reveals wedding dress code for guests


Lainey WilsonThe wedding may have featured a custom Oscar de la Renta gown, a royal green tuxedo, and a guest list packed with country music stars, but when it came to what everyone else was wearing, the bride couldn’t care less.

As more details emerge of Wilson’s wedding to Devlin “Duck” HodgesOne of the most surprising may be how relaxed the couple was with their guests’ attire.

Lainey had a very different wedding dress code

talking to People On the ACM Awards red carpet, Wilson revealed that while guests were stressing over what to wear, she and Hodges were taking a much more relaxed approach.

“Honestly, we were the ones who were a little less stressed,” Wilson said. “Everyone else was worried about what they were going to wear to the wedding.”

In fact, the couple’s dress code was deceptively simple: “We said, ‘You can wear your birthday suit. We don’t give a damn.'”

Hodges agreed, adding, “We were probably the least stressed.”

Thankfully, judging by the wedding photos Wilson then shared with Fashionno one seems to have accepted the couple’s offer.

The bride and groom had their own style plans

While guests were given a lot of freedom, Wilson and Hodges clearly had a vision for their own wedding day looks.

Wilson stunned in a custom Oscar de la Renta dress, a rare departure from the bell-bottoms and hats that have become synonymous with his public image.

Meanwhile, Hodges wore a custom D. Lacquaniti tuxedo in mallard green, a fitting choice given his nickname, “Duck.” He finished the look with a custom bolo tie, matching cufflinks, a Mud Lowery designed hat pin, a Charlie 1 Horse cowboy hat, and custom cowboy boots from Wilson’s brand Golden West Boots.

They wanted the guests to feel comfortable

The relaxed dress code philosophy seems to fit the overall vibe Wilson and Hodges were going for.

The couple chose The Ruskin Cave in Dickson, Tennessee, as their wedding venue, and told Fashion They were attracted to the simplicity of the property.

“We wanted it to be special and beautiful, but really cozy and comfortable for our guests,” Wilson explained. “We try not to take ourselves too seriously.”

The celebration also included Wilson’s many roots in Louisiana, including a 12-piece jazz band and Cajun food prepared by the chefs at his Nashville bar, Bell Bottoms Up.

Wedding guest list for all ages

The wedding featured a star-studded guest list that included Miranda Lambert, Ella Langley, ERNEST, RESISTANT, Wynonna Juddand more.

But while food, music and fashion helped make the day memorableWilson says the most important part was much easier.

“To be honest, it was everything we could have imagined. It was perfect. It was beautiful,” he said. “He’s my person.”

And apparently, whether guests showed up in formal wear, jeans, or something in between, that was the only thing that really mattered.
