Princess Kate wore baby-blue Katherine Walkers for Trooping the Color

Here are some photos from Saturday’s Trooping the Colour, the British monarch’s annual (fake) birthday parade. This post is for the Princess of Wales and her children, who rode in a carriage and then stood on the balcony. It’s remarkable to me how little Kate has done in the past month – an event at a hospital, an appearance at a family wedding and then trooping. This is the sum total of his one month’s public appearances.

Kate wore a new-for-us Catherine Walker coatdress in baby-blue with white trimming. His Philip Treacy hat was matching in blue and white. My complicated opinion is that Kate looks fine for the event, but in the grand scheme of things she doesn’t look very good overall. Honestly, I think the hat is ruining her look. Kate loves hats – she can wear most styles of hats. But this type of cap sits at the wrong place on his head and makes his forehead look bigger. The baby-blue color tones her down too – she looks better in warm, autumnal shades rather than pastels and icy blues. obviously, This whole look was like a copy of Diana. However, that’s the thing – Diana’s complexion was very distinct and she could really rock the baby blue shade.

Jewelry Notes: Kate’s earrings are by Cassandra Goode, and I’m sure she’s worn them before. It’s surprising she didn’t get a chance to borrow some Royal Collection earrings, but Queen Camilla is very picky about things like that. Kate’s brooch features the insignia of the Irish Guards.
