Amy Adams Shares ‘Graphic’ SNL Sketch With Andy Samberg, Who She Turned Down

During her performance op Seth Meyers show on June 9, the Golden Globe nominee shared the “graphic” SNL skit the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor wanted to do with her.

The host asked Amy Adams if she remembered the original song that Andy Samberg pitched to her. She was asked to perform it when she first hosted SNL in March 2008.

“I do, but I’m not, I mean… I’ll give you the gist without telling you the punchline,” said the Man of steel star revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “It was this couple (and) he got bitten by a spider in the park, and she said, ‘Honey, I love you so much, and now that you’re dying, is there any last wish?’ And he says, ‘Yeah, I never had the chance to…'” She also recalled the man then saying, “The most moving thing he wanted to do to me.”

Adams then explained that the reason she rejected the sketch was the young audience of her film Enchanted. She said, “I was so acutely aware of all the young girls watching Enchanted. And I didn’t want to be the princess singing about that particular act, you know?”

Meyers had discussed this SNL skit with Samberg in a 2024 episode of theirs Lonely Island and Seth Meyers podcast. The talk show host noted that the Hot Rod actor appreciated Adams turning down the skit. “He said, literally the next day, he saw a five-year-old come up to you and say, ‘You mean so much to me, and I love (Enchanted). And he said, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t believe I almost made her do that,'” Meyers said.

That’s why Amy Adams praised Andy Samberg for being “gracious” about the situation. She eventually hosted the SNL episode in 2008, although she performed another skit with him.
