The late Prince Philip would have turned 105 today, June 10. To mark Philip’s birthday, the Mail decided to write a story about how much Philip despises the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. You can’t make it up!! It’s not like Philip has a long history of saying racist and extremely insensitive things, you know? They could have made a biggest hit out of Philip’s “Mistakes”. Or they could also write about his playful nature, his fierce intelligence or all the charitable work he did. But no one. Every single dead royal should be exhumed so they can draw Harry and Meghan.
A royal expert has claimed Prince Philip ‘vigorously disapproves’ of the Duchess of Sussex and how she teamed up with the Duke of Sussex to ‘blindsided the Queen and plunged the monarchy into crisis.’ The late Duke of Edinburgh, who would have celebrated his 105th birthday on Wednesday, is remembered for many things: being the longest-serving royal spouse in British history, his blunt wit and philanthropy. According to royal biographer Richard FitzWilliams, while she shared close, treasured bonds with various members of the royal family, Meghan Markle, 44, was not one of them.
FitzWilliams said: ‘Queen Elizabeth and her “power and strength”, Prince Philip, were one of the most remarkable couples in royal history. Prince Philip strongly disapproved of the way Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties, blindsided the Queen and plunged the monarchy into crisis. He was an outsider who brought about change and helped shape the future by creatively handling the problems of his undefined job. He clearly expressed regret at both the speed of this decision and its impact on the future.’
‘When Prince Harry announced his plans to marry Meghan Markle in November 2017, he hoped the royal family would welcome his good news. But the prince received a blunt response from his outspoken grandfather, Prince Philip, who issued a stern warning: “No one goes out with actresses, no one marries them.”
‘Harry and Meghan’s wedding was a unique wedding for the royal family. It included a long, revivalist sermon, a series of skits involving Hollywood A-listers, his father, and backstage tensions that later unfolded. Duke was recovering from a hip operation and was in a lot of pain, as well as having a broken rib. Not surprisingly he reportedly told the Queen, “Thanks, it’s over”. It meant he could rest.’
‘The Sussexes were to air a two-hour special with Oprah on Saturday March 9, 2021. On February 17, when it was already scheduled, Prince Philip was admitted to hospital due to an infection and pre-existing heart disease. There was a huge amount of advertising revenue tied up in the interview, and the build-up was unprecedented. However, due to the Duke’s illness, it would have been respectful to postpone it. It was some consolation that Meghan’s friend, CBS’s Gayle King, said the Sussexes had planned to postpone it if Philip had actually died.’
A friend of the Sussexes told the Daily Mail at the time that the royal family were using Philip’s health, and the fact that he had recently had heart surgery, as an excuse to keep the Sussexes ‘under wraps’. A friend of the Sussexes said: ‘Even though Meghan had the option to postpone the Oprah special, she said she wouldn’t because it has nothing to do with Prince Philip and is an excuse by the palace to keep her quiet.’
FitzWilliams added: ‘Prince Philip never recovered. He died in April that year at the age of 99. The content and legacy of this interview, which the Queen had to endure while mourning, is one of the causes of the bitter rift between the royal family and the Sussexes. So it was also a good thing that Harry was alone at his funeral. Meghan was seriously pregnant and, we’re told, she didn’t fly on medical advice. Yet the controversy continued as details of her floral tribute were released to the media through a press release from her PR. It seemed like a public relations opportunity which was completely inappropriate on such an occasion and not surprisingly it was heavily criticized at the time.’
FitzWilliams said: ‘The Duke was a famously eccentric man and someone of Meghan’s temperament might find him somewhat challenging. However, he was fiercely loyal to the Queen and the institution of the monarchy and, as the royal family found out, Meghan was extremely ambitious. As reported, the Duke may have warned Harry, “One goes out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them”. This would not have been appreciated, nor would Meghan’s alleged comparison with Wallis Simpson, wife of the Duke of Windsor, as the abdication still troubles the royal family. Harry loved his grandfather very much, but there were limits to his loyalty.’
(from Daily Mail)
Meghan actually talked about how much she enjoyed talking to Philip during Christmas 2017, and Harry repeatedly talked about how he kept in touch with his grandparents and even Zoomed with Philip. It clearly meant a lot to both Meghan and Harry that they were able to take a photo with Qixi and Philip just days after welcoming Archie. Basically, this is even more royal revisionism, and they’ve spent years trying to make it seem like QEII and Philip were completely at odds with the Sussexes. Suspicious. In Philip’s case, I think he was probably pretty much out of it in his final years, but whatever. I had actually forgotten about the wreath drama. God, that was ridiculous. I remember when Meghan did this too, and we also knew why – because if she hadn’t made such a big deal about the wreath, they would have said that Meghan was rude about Philip’s funeral and did nothing.
