On Wednesday (June 10), the 40-year-old cookbook author took Instagram To announce that his father, Ron Teigen Sr.He had died suddenly a day earlier.
“Yesterday I woke up with my father and went to sleep without him,” chrissy wrote. “All the same things happened. Took a quick bath. Picked up dog toy stuff. Answered some emails. Procrastinated some. Laughed with my friends and wore a cute dress for a friend’s birthday. Took a video. How cute is this dress!”
“And then my dad, like… the king, died,” she continued. “I thought that since we talked about it and I’ve always been there for him as an ‘old dad,’ I wouldn’t have fallen to the ground like that. I’ve thought about this phone call for years. I’d be ready.”
“A few months ago I was able to go away for a week,” she recalled. “I wrote a letter to my father about how grateful I am for him. How hard he worked for us growing up and how much I love him. I am forever grateful for that moment and for all the years before that when I handed him the letter.”
chrissy Adding, “If you don’t know my father, my father hated almost everything in the world, including bass guitar, swing dancing, wood carving, animals, YouTube, or his family. I have hundreds of videos of him freaking out over things he’s not doing, seeing, or eating. They make me so happy now.”
“God, I love you so much. I’ll talk to you every night,” she concluded. “Thank you for being such a great father. As long as we don’t complain again.”
with his message, chrissy Shared a video of his father talking about his upbringing in the Pacific Northwest and joking about salmon.
“This salmon, that salmon… I’ve got enough salmon to never touch another salmon for the rest of my life,” Ron Said in the clip as people around him laughed.
In the comments section, chrissyhusband of john legend Paid tribute to his late father-in-law.
“We love you so much Papa Ron,” the EGOT winner, 47, wrote. “I’m so glad you got to spend so much time with your grandchildren. I love seeing how proud you were of the beautiful family you helped create.”
